Leon Drogy: Banquet Management and Operations Expert

Working in a restaurant can be stressful and the hours can be long, but Leon Drogy loves doing it. A native of New York, Leon has been employed by various New York restaurants since 1990, though he started out as a corporate Meeting Planner for the International Trademark Association straight out of Dickinson College in Pennsylvania in 1987. A couple of years later Mr Drogy held the same position for General Media, Inc.

What started Leon Drogy’s restaurant career was his job as a Sales Manager for Classic Caterers. Then Leon became a Banquet Manager for Water’s Edge Restaurant and Tavern on the Green. At Tavern, Mr Drogy rose to the position of Director of Banquet Operations.

As a Banquet Manager, Leon Drogy was responsible for overseeing all facets of banquets or events from setting up the site, selecting the menu, preparing the food, serving it and cleaning up after the events. Leon was also responsible for supervising banquet staff from their hiring, training, coaching, to evaluating their performance.

As a Director of Banquet Operations, Leon Drogy was in charge of supervising the day-to-day operations of the Banquet Department from communicating objectives to staff, assigning them to perform tasks, and ensuring that they have the necessary training to do so. Mr Drogy also ensured the security of banquet inventory, the maintenance of equipment, and the management of funds.

Getting to Know Leon Drogy

As a young lad in New York, Leon Drogy graduated high school at the “Walter Panas High School” in Manor, NY. During his college years, he went to “Dickson College” in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In that particular institution, he became a part of the Theta Chi Fraternity wherein he would soon become its president. Aside from that, Leon Drogy was a member of the Student Senate at the said college.

Mr Drogy was gifted with an abundance of skills, abilities and talents which included event planning, cost analysis, menu planning, budget analysis, strategic planning, staffing and marketing. As a professional, he soon noted that his skills would get him far. Leon Drogy found himself working in industries such as member firms; groups specializing in publishing, online and entertainment and in the restaurants and catering businesses. He had several job positions like being a meeting planner, sales manager, banquet manager, director of banquet operations and director of operations. At present time, Mr Drogy is now the Vice President of Catering, Colonial Terrace.

Currently, Leon Drogy is a member of several organizations with the likes of Meeting Planners International, Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce, Gala Committee, Support Connection, Yorktown, New York, Gala Committee, Lakeland Education Foundation, Shrub Oak, NY and Gala Committee, Yorktown Foundation for Excellence. At present time, Leon is not only a member of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce but has been appointed as its Secretary of the Board of Directors.

Leon Drogy: Non-Profit Organization Member

Leon Drogy is a member of numerous organizations that he feels strongly about and supports. Being a part of non-profit organizations allows him to help spread awareness as well as create activities that encourages and inspires others to do the same which helps these organizations tremendously.

Leon Drogy is presently a member of the Gala Committee “Support Connection” Yorktown, New York since 2005. The “Support Connection” is a non-profit organization that offers free confidential support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer. The mission of “Support Connection” is to provide emotional, social and educational support services to women, their families as well as friends who are affected by breast and ovarian cancer. Mr Drogy supports this organization because it enables women to help each other and empowers them while inspiring others to be their own health care advocates.

Leon Drogy is a member of another Gala Committee from 2005 till the present. This group is known as the “Lakeland Education Foundation” in Shrub Oak, New York. Leon Drogy believes in the mission of this foundation because it provides quality education for students and seeks to present opportunities for them and the staff of Lakeland to expand learning opportunities as well as maximizing the potential of each student while augmenting the fine work that is already underway in the Lakeland Schools.
