Beth Shak Greatest Poker Achievement to Date

With a little over 4 years experience playing poker, Beth Shak rise as a professional poker player has been nothing short of stellar. She started out using “play money” on Full Tilt Poker to learn how to play poker before venturing out to her first live tournament. In 2005, during her second live tournament, Beth Shak got all the way to an 8th place finish in the World Series of Poker Ladies’ event, taking home $16,000.

A string of cash finishes encouraged her to continue playing in live tournaments until she really came into her own at the 38th WSOP where she was pitted against Phil Hellmuth in a monumental battle for the bracelet. Although Beth Shak didn’t win top prize that year, she did take home $328,683, which also helped in landing her spot on the Women’s All Time Money List.

Beth Shak vividly recalls that highpoint in her still young poker career. “I went to that final table saying I was going to win it. I really did. I really thought I was going to win. And I’m not upset with second because it’s still quite an achievement. But, now it’s going to be hard to top, because now I have to win it, right?”
