Edwin Ogenio -Women In Ministry

By Edwin OgenioOver the years I have been asked the question many times whether women are allowed to teach in church or have a leadership position in church or ministry. Those who ask me this question usually ask because of the following scripture, which according to them is very confusing, since this scripture often has been used by religious leaders to justify the fact that women among other things should not be in church leadership position. Yet, there are many Christians who believe that it is perfectly fine to have women teaching or being the pastor of a church, but when they are asked to give a scriptural explanation by those who question it, they have a very hard time doing so.

Women should listen and learn quietly and submissively. I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly. For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. And it was the woman, not Adam, who was deceived by Satan, and sin was the result. But women will be saved through childbearing and by continuing to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty. 1. Tim 2:11-15 NLT

Let’s clear out the misunderstanding! The apostle Paul who wrote this letter to the church in Ephesus did not forbid women from teaching. First of all, we know this because it was Paul who complimented and honored his co-worker in the ministry, Priscilla, who together with her husband Aquila, taught the preacher evangelist named Apollos.

Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had just arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Egypt. He had been taught the way of the Lord and talked to others with great enthusiasm and accuracy about Jesus. However, he knew only about John’s baptism. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God more accurately. Acts 18:24-26 NLT

Greet Priscilla and Aquila. They have been co-workers in my ministry for Christ Jesus. In fact, they risked their lives for me. I am not the only one who is thankful to them; so are all the Gentile churches. Please give my greetings to the church that meets in their home. Rom 16:3-5 NLT

To be continued…

Star Vacation Club Mexican Riviera Cruise

Star Vacation ClubStar Vacation Club presents our Puerto Vallarta cruise. This once-sleepy fishing village became a popular resort after The Night of the Iguana was filmed here in 1964. Nestled on the 28-mile curve of Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta has steadfastly held on to its character. Red tile roofs and rows of balconies, spilling over with colorful bougainvillea, still line its cobblestone streets. A pleasure for both the eye and the camera.

Big Time Entertainment

Although it is quite unfortunate, most people are not receptive to new opportunities, ideas, or experiences. That is why 99.5% of all fliers end up in the trash, even if they have a band’s web address printed on them. So, when promoting for a show (with BigTime Entertainment or otherwise), your first strategy should be getting everyone who knows YOU to come see you play. You’ll find that these people already feel connected to you, so you won’t even need to use your music to establish a connection.
It is vital that you get everyone who knows YOU to come see you play-not only for BigTime Entertainment shows, but for every single show you play. Once you start bringing out the people who know YOU to your shows, you can then start to grow your fan base by encouraging them to invite their friends to your shows. Their friends may not have a direct connection to you, but they are connected to one of your biggest fans. Even that indirect connection is a powerful tool for increasing your draw. Also, the people that know you are the people who you can count on to stand right in front of the stage and cheer after every song. When those people are at your show, it encourages the people who have never heard you to take note of what you’re doing on stage. They think to themselves, “Everyone’s cheering…these guys must be pretty good.”

Howard Nestler - Administrative Cost-Cutting for U.S. corporations

Howard Nestler,

CEO of Executive Options, announced today administrative cost reductions for U.S. corporations by streamlining the process with which they can acquire premium quality, management level executives. The findings are based on a three year comparison study. “It is important for CEOs to understand that it costs their corporations a disproportionate amount of money to acquire top talent for the running of their companies,” explains Howard Nestler. “The ability to quickly find the best of the best is a savings of time and money that can have in impact on the profitability of an enterprise.”

Dealing as they do in the Law of Large Numbers, the process by which companies acquires talent becomes a lengthy and, often times, unproductive campaign that in wholly unnecessary. “The fact is that a company needs to find the executives it needs without delay. The conventional approach is imbued with a certain apathy that works against the interest of the corporation, and can even affect its share price According to Howard Nestler, too much time and money is being spent by corporations sorting out rank-and-file level executives who are merely looking for work when their need dictates the acquisition of a stellar specification; a man or woman who is looking to meet a challenge.

“I have created a direct pipeline by which corporations with specific needs can encounter and engage premium level executives without the added time and expense attached to conventional hiring programs,” Howard Nestler states. “This is a service designed with a CEO’s imperatives in mind.”

BigTime Entertainment

As a local artist, you must assume that no more than 1% (probably far less, actually) of the population in your home market has ever heard your music. So if your promotion efforts (for a BigTime Entertainment show or any other show you play) are going to yield any results, you must come to terms with the fact that you are promoting almost exclusively to people who know nothing about you, as an artist, whatsoever. You will find that there is only one group of people that will come see you play without first knowing your music-that is, the people that know YOU!
Your friends, relatives, co-workers, and classmates are the only people that will want to see you play without ever having heard your music. They know that YOU are an interesting, cool, funny, deep, or inspiring person-so they know to expect the same from your music, even though they haven’t heard it yet.
